JAMES M. MCGINN, Ph.D., LPC, NCC, ACS
Dr. James McGinn is a professional counselor and counselor educator with nearly 15 years of clinical experience and over 5 in counselor education, training, and supervision. He earned a Master of Arts degree in counseling with a specialty in school counseling from Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT in 2011 and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in counselor education and supervision from the University of Holy Cross in New Orleans, LA in 2020. He is a state Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), and an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) as well as trained and certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). He has worked as a community/outreach and crisis services counselor and a clinical outpatient counselor, and he currently works as an assistant professor at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, KY in its Counselor Education program housed in the Department of Clinical Therapeutic Programs as well as in clinical private practice through the New Orleans Counseling and Hypnosis Center in New Orleans, LA. His areas of expertise include LGBTQ+-related issues, depressive and anxiety disorders, family conflict and separation or divorce, loss and grief, and trauma.
